Charmaine Sheh and Roger Kwok at "Pearl Of The Orient" Costume Fitting

Sorry LvChineseGrl for deleting your chinese version of the news cuz the news already translated so there is no point keeping the chinese version anymore. Hope you dont mind

TVB's new series, "Pearl of the Orient" held its costume fitting yesterday. Roger Kwok Chun On, Charmaine Sheh Si Man, Liza Wang Ming Chuen, and Sharon Chan Man Chi were present. "Pearl of the Orient" is a series that takes place in the 1960's and many of its cast members will be recording songs in 1960's music style. The cast members appeared in nostalgic 1960's costumes, with Sharon Chan with the most stand-out image, as she plays a character with one leg shorter than the other.

Liza Wang said that she will be appearing with several different images in the series, aside from the one that she showcased yesterday at the costume fitting. Many of the series' cast members will be working together for the first time and Liza believes that this will produce a sense of freshness and novelty. Liza also mentioned that she will be singing the theme song for the series. In the course of her career, it has been very rare for her to act in a 1960's musical series like "Pearl of the Orient."

Roger Kwok said that he has started recording songs for this series already. In the series, Roger will be singing in many scenes as well. He has been recently listening to old classic songs from the 1960's and 1970's in his new car. Rogers' friends laughed at him and joked that his car has become a 1960's disco since he has been frequently playing music from that era.
Will Roger also have to dance in the series? Roger said, "No, there are many large-scale dance sequences to be handled by the background dancers. In that era, many famous singers just stood on stage and didn't have to dance."

Will Roger be imitating any famous singers from that era? "Yes, I play a famous singer in the series. Along the way, my character will fall into a low point in his life and his personality will undergo a dramatic change. So my references will be the singer Ching San and also Cheung Dai." Roger also hopes that he will be able to produce new sparks with co-star Charmaine Sheh.

Charmaine Sheh said that she will be recording songs for this series at a later time. The producer gave her some CD's from the 1960s and 70s so that she can be familiar with the music style of that era. As Charmaine had also sang songs for "Perish in the Name of Love," she feels confident that she will be able to handle it.

In "Pearl of the Orient," Charmaine's character initially raises pigs for a living. In one scene, Charmaine pours rancid pig [feed] over Liza Wang's body. "Of course it will not be really rancid material when we are filming the scene though. Haha! At the beginning of the series, my character also stutters in her speech. The other day, I encountered a man at a restaurant with such a speech problem too. I stood behind him and listened to him for one hour [so I can emulate his speech pattern for my new series]. But the man had a local accent when he spoke, so I would have to change the pronunciation during actual filming."
